Horse stuff on the Radio

hey guys, in case you missed this I think you might enjoy listening to the latest edition of Open Country going out on Radio 4 today!

Talks a lot about the exponential growth in less knowledgable horse owners due to the decline in the number of riding schools and the challenges for the horse industry that this brings…

Wanted

I really would like to speak to Daniel Lyon at her earliest convenience,  if anyone knows  where or how  she can be contacted, other than her mobile which she doesn’t answer, or her email address which bounces every contact.  I would prefer her to contact me if she cares at all.

Petitions

I would ask all members to sign the petition asking the Government to give them a say in all new access & rights of way legislation.

Sign the petition at   http://petitions.pm.gov.uk/Equestrianaccess/

Equestrians are the most vulnerable of road users& need increased off-road access for their safety & the welfare of their horses. Horse riding & carriage driving provides healthy outdoor exercise which the Government is keen to encourage, it is enjoyed by over 4 million peoplein the UK & is the second biggest land based industry but equestrians have not been included in the recent access- creating legislation which would help make them safer & encourage healthy outdoor recreation.

Please sign we can’t all ride on surfaces or use equestrian centres.

Lincoln

The Lincoln gang has expanded a little today with 2 more teams
qualifying: Open SJ (Alice Bell, Rachel Horton-Barr, Clare Foley,
Karen Smith) & Style (Tracey Malka, Karen Smith, Anne Grindal, me).

The intermediate SJ team were 2nd (Anne Grindal, Sarah Nunn, Helen
Roberts, Rachel Horton-Barr) and I think one of the novice SJ teams
was 3rd? (Clare Foley, Georgie Harrison, Tracey Malka, Alison
Coleman).

I know some are planning to head up to Lincoln on the Friday, sure
will know more over next few days…

Championships at Lincoln

How many of you are going to Lincoln?  Do you have any plans to travel on the Friday stopping overnight?
